Opening of our Tāmaki Makaurau offices

The Workforce Development Councils reached a great milestone on 24th January when we opened our new offices in Tāmaki Makaurau. The importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi as the foundation for all our work, and a commitment to imbed its principles in our every-day mahi, was strengthened by the karanga, karakia and whaikōrero, as our new office was blessed. We are grateful to Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei for their support of this Tohu Tangaengae (blessing) and also to all the teams across the Ohu Mahi WDCs who have worked hard to make this a special and safe occasion.

Unfortunately, under Red level we had to have a reduced invite list, however we were grateful that Maxine Gay from our Ringa Hora Council could be there.  We know that she took all the aroha from the rest of us to this important event and a few pictures as well which we are sharing with you.

There is a big task ahead to get vocational education back on track, secure a resilient workforce and help our future generations thrive. The opening of the Auckland office was key in getting our people in place to enable them to tackle these challenges.  We look forward to welcoming many of you there in the future.

Nau mai, haere mai: our new office is located at Level 4, Office Tower, 277 Broadway, Newmarket, Auckland.
